ABOUT

Hi, i'm Ava!

I come from generations of artists. Growing up, my parents consistently made all forms of art a priority, and actively fostered our passions. For as long as I can remember, I've seen the world through an artists lens: color combinations, how light interacts with man-made spaces and objects, juxtaposition/contradiction of subjects, vulnerability in every being, the human connection. 
I am based in NYC with my rock-climbing husband and popsicle fanatic toddler. For the last 8 years I've worked as a Registered Nurse specializing in Intensive Care. Both photography and nursing honor how I wish to serve humanity in this lifetime- by fostering healing, growth, transparency and self expression. 
Aside from nursing and photography, I love old houses and architecture, museums, spicy food,  flea markets, the 1960s, house plants, dabbling with piano, painting, interior design, vast spaces, jellyfish, and reading. 

During our session, I hope to bring a sense of comfort and ease. I find that the most impactful and powerful images are the ones in which I am able to capture the subjects truest self. As an open-minded, passionate, judgement free and easy going photographer, sessions are an enjoyable and rewarding experience for everyone involved, myself included.
